Red Design Consultants and Ouzo of Plomari on keeping the spirit alive
Red Design Consultants designed the bicentennial special edition of Ouzo of Plomari, a tribute to the 200 years of Greek Independence and the designs of Greek traditional costumes. It numbers 1821 bottles with the handwritten numbering certifying the distinctive character of the bottles. Red Design also created the brand video centred around the edition.
The colour palette in white, red and blue is inspired by recent Greek history.
The white bottle dominates symbolising purity. The pattern in blue and red, refers to the traditional Greek costumes. The combination with the red tassel on the neck of the bottle creates an elegant result that balances between the past and contemporary Greece.
The elements framing the design, such as the anniversary seal and the flags, give a festive tonality to a special edition that the Plomari Distillery supports as a worthy ambassador of a unique tradition that continues with the same recipe and distillation method since 1894.
Rodanthi Senduka, Head Creative of Red Design notes: “What makes the packaging and the bottle so special is a result of the design approach we followed from the beginning. The white of the bottle that is centre stage gives space to other design elements, such as the pattern on the neck and the seal, which together with the touch of the red tassel highlight the distinctiveness of this special edition in a univocal and almost absolute way.”
Set against a vibrant red backdrop, the brand video focuses on the distinctiveness
of the bottle, its details and the purpose of the edition in a simple, contemporary and eloquent way.
The musical score, inspired by traditional Greek folk music, was written especially for the brand video.
